We’re Andrew and Emma, parents to Abby and Oliver. Kins began at our kitchen table, with the feeling that the smallest parts of family life deserve a place of their own.

THE EVERYDAY BECOMES EVERYTHING
The things that
make a family.
Our fridge has held school certificates, drawings and the sort of masterpieces you can’t possibly take down. There are never enough magnets. Then there are the things a fridge can’t hold at all: a sleepy voice, a funny sentence, the way a child saw the world for one particular afternoon.
In our house, slippers became “slipperlees.” We still say it. It’s one of those tiny family words that makes no sense to anyone else and means the world to us.

SOMEWHERE IN THE HOUSE…
We kept the memories.
Just not together.
We captured them on digital cameras, phones, voice recorders and scraps of paper. Finding one later could feel like searching for a missing toy: you turn the house upside down, give up, and it appears months later when you’re looking for something else.
We didn’t want those moments to disappear into folders or drawers. We wanted to find them, remember them and cherish them.
THE STORY WE STILL LOOK FOR
“The day Abby was born, we wrote it all down.”
Every thought, every feeling, everything that made that day ours went into a book. After a move or two, we still haven’t found it. We remember how much the story meant. We wish we could read the words again.
That missing book changed how we thought about keeping family stories. We also realised how many details we never thought to capture in the first place. What did our home look like when she arrived? What was playing on the radio? When your whole world has just turned upside down, it helps to have a gentle nudge.

That’s why
we made Kins.
A simple, private home for the whole story: the photos and voices, the certificates and scribbles, the milestones and the completely ordinary Tuesdays. A place that prompts you to notice a little more, and helps you find it all again.
We’re a family-run business based in Yorkshire. We’re building Kins because we know how quickly the years pass, and how much the little things come to mean.
