Who we are

Kins is a family-run business built by Andrew and Emma in Yorkshire, England. We are responsible for the Kins website’s launch-notification list. For questions about this policy or your information, email privacy@kins.app.

Information you add

Kins lets you add names, dates, relationships, photographs, videos, voice recordings, notes, measurements and other family memories. This can include information about children. You decide what to add and who to invite.

Where your memories live

Your archive is stored on your device. When iCloud is available, it is backed up to your private Apple iCloud account using CloudKit. Kins does not operate a separate server that stores or reads your private memories.

How information is used

Information you add is used to create your family archive, timelines, stories, growth views, reminders, exports and the other features you choose. Processing of your private memories happens on your device or through your iCloud account.

Device permissions

Kins asks only when a feature needs access to photos, camera, microphone, speech recognition, location or notifications. You can refuse or change any permission in iPhone or iPad Settings. Location may be used to add place or historical-weather context; voice and speech access support audio memories and title suggestions.

Services that help Kins work

Apple provides iCloud, notifications, speech services and App Store purchases. RevenueCat validates purchases and subscription access and may process an anonymous app-user identifier, purchase status and device information. Optional context features request public information from providers such as weather, music, books and reference services; those requests may include a date, broad location or search term, but never your private photos, videos, recordings or notes.

Family sharing

If you invite someone, the information you choose to share is made available to that person through Apple’s private CloudKit sharing. People with contribution access can add content. You can review and remove access in Family settings.

No advertising or behavioural tracking

Kins does not sell your personal information, show behavioural advertising or use third-party advertising trackers. Apple may provide opt-in crash diagnostics under your Apple privacy settings.

Launch notifications

If you ask us to let you know when Kins is available, we store your name, email address, the time of your request and the wording you agreed to in a private file on our website’s Hostinger hosting account. We rely on your consent to send the availability notice. We do not add you to a general marketing list or share your address with advertisers. We keep the address until we have sent the availability notice or you ask us to remove it, then delete it within 30 days. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing privacy@kins.app.

Your control and rights

You can edit or delete entries in Kins, export an archive, remove invited people and delete local data by deleting the app. You can manage Kins data stored in iCloud from your Apple account settings. Data retained by Apple or RevenueCat is subject to their policies and legal obligations.

You can ask us to access, correct or erase personal information we hold about you and to stop the launch notification. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how we handle your information.
